PMC hosts onto Microsoft Windows Servers and is
licensed by Server. Any options licensed for any PMC Server must be licensed for
all servers. The PMC Server product provides the opportunity to manage all
printers and print files, regardless of location, from a central workstation.
PMC Management is provided through a PMC Graphical User Interface (PMC GUI) that
may be installed on any Microsoft Windows workstation running any Microsoft
Windows operating system (2000 and after) connected to the PMC Network.
PMC Port Monitor supports the automatic launch of
pre and post-print processes. This feature enables print jobs to be
automatically run based on the arrival of a data file from the Clients
applications. The Client may direct PMC Port Monitor to make copies of files,
apply advanced Print Job Language controls or even encrypt data files before
sending to printers. PMC Port Monitor also supports the setting of quotas to
restrict the use of expensive or critical printers by specific users.
PMC Device Driver Management allows the Client to
designate a single server as the primary device driver manager. All updated
drivers for all of the output devices used by the Client are stored on the
primary device driver manager. Based on a schedule set by the Client, drivers
are automatically distributed to all other PMC Servers and, at the discretion of
the Client, automatically applied to all applicable devices.
PMC
Accounting supports the ability to track and report on the usage of various
output devices. The information gathered may be used to determine loads on
output devices by time, user or job for management or billing purposes.
PMC
Communications supports output device to PMC Server communications. Output
device to PMC communications includes all messages provided by device such as
toner low or approaching service point.
PMC
Job Monitoring provides user defined notification of any problem associated with
an output job. End-user defined messages include such items as alerts when key
print jobs fail or are held. Job Monitoring also provides the opportunity for
end-users to direct messages to fax, voice or e-mail communications modules.
PMC
Backup and Recovery provides a system level backup of a print server that goes
beyond the backup and recovery available from operating system manufacturers.
PMC Backup includes consideration for PMC, Active Directory and LDAP security.
PMC
LDAP provides three (3) options for integration of PMC with the Client’s LDAP
process. PMC can update the LDAP Server directly, through a third party LDAP
interface or use a shadow copy of the LDAP Server’s files.
PMC End-User Output Management allows end-users to
access and manage only their own output jobs. All other PMC features are PMC
Administrator restricted.
PMC
SAP Interface provides the ability to manage spool files produced by SAP. This
process receives files from SAP and automatically informs SAP of the output
status. PMC notifies SAP when the output has been actually produced, not just
delivered to the output device.
The
PMC SAP Queue Interface uniquely provides client the ability to automatically
add queues into SAP. Under standard SAP processing, queues must be added to
Microsoft Windows Servers and then also added into SAP. PMC eliminates this
redundant task.
The
PMC GUI is provided free of charge and is licensed for installation on an
unlimited number of workstations connected to the PMC Server network.
PMC
provides the opportunity to manage output devices and files located on UNIX or
Linux Servers in the same GUI used to view Microsoft Windows output devices and
files.
